Johnny contributed significantly to the golden years of Motown Records from 1963 - 1972 by developing the Motown Brass Section and coordinating the arranging staff. As lead trumpet he recorded with such great artists as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, The Temptations, Four Tops, Smokey Robinson.
Johnny has also performed with the bands of Tommy Dorsey, Bob Crosby, Tex Beneke, Buddy Morrow, and Quincy Jones. Johnny has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Jon Faddis, Donald Byrd, Bob Hope, Wayne Newton, Sammy Davis Jr., and Paul Anka, to name just a few. Johnny is also respected in the industry with his extensive work with the Detroit Musicians Association.
